Spotted in the wild in South Carolina: my latest Fine Woodworking magazine article.

Making Slip Tenons

With all mortises complete, time to make slip tenons. I mill the stock to size (3/8" thick by 3/4" wide, in this case) then round over the edges on a "router table".  I like featherboards, they keep things safe and consistent.  When rounding over the edges, I'm working with long pieces and not the short piece sitting on the infeed side of the table.  Last step is to cut the slips to length using a tablesaw setup (at right).

Mortise and (Slip) Tenon

The "Korsak Mortiser" is not the most aesthetically pleasing mortising setup. But it gets the job done with really consistent results.
